JOE NEVOLO started playing the drums at the early age of five years old under the direct instruction of his father who was a professional drummer. Then in his mid-teens, Joe started to teach in a local music store while he still played in his father's jazz band. While teaching at such notable schools as DCI in NYC, the Long Island Drum Center, and finally deciding to establish and teach at his Big Beat Studio, he perfected his teaching skills into a process that works for him and his students. Joe once commented,"I feel very honored to have students travel as far as three to four hours by car just to take a lesson. These same students will travel just as far to see me play with the various bands that I have performed with over the years."

His systematic program supplemented with many diverse subjects and concepts really helps the student grow musically and creatively. Another asset that Joe possesses is that he enables the young student to become more knowledgeable about the music business. "Having a tremendous amount of fun learning musical concepts that can be applied immediately to the band situation that the student is in is what it's all about."

And when it comes to applying musical concepts to band situations or collaborating with respected musicians, Joe is no novice. He has played with national acts such as Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush (Columbia Records), The Good Rats (Warner Brothers), Gary Tallent (of the E-Street Band), China Sky (CBS), and the legendary New Jersey rock band Phantom's Opera, which consisted of musicians who are currently in the band Bon Jovi. He has also recorded albums with Pat Travers (Blues Tracks/Shrapnel Records), guitar virtuosos Stephen Ross (Stephen Ross/Shrapnel Records), and Howe II (High Gear/Shrapnel Records) that included a national tour. He also recorded and performed with Adrian Dodz and he recorded and completed a European tour that included 3 countries with the highly touted band, Shadow Gallery (Magna Carta Records).
