A Message from Joe
With 2021 well underway, Big Beat Music School is excited to see that there is a surge of interest in those wanting to take music lessons. It is our belief that the difficult times of 2020 gave people time to think of what was truly important to them, and music was on that list! It’s no wonder, as studies show the left side of the brain is more improved when learning music. The left side of the brain includes areas related to language and reasoning, and if this is improved there are so many aspects of one’s life that it will help. Research shows that playing music reduces stress and anxiety, and helps to lower blood pressure, which in return will help your immune system. So keep on playing that music!!
I would like to thank all of the students who continued to support Big Beat and our teachers during the difficult times in 2020 by continuing your music studies. We hope that it helped you as much as it did us!
The vaccines are rolling out and we are hopeful that things will get back to normal, but we are still staying strong and asking everybody to continue to wear their mask, stay 6 feet apart and wash their hands. Big Beat joined the organization safemusicschools.org, along with hundreds of other music schools around the world representing over 70,000 music students, pledging to stay committed to keeping our students safe!

Meet this month’s ‘Pet of the Month’ contest winner, piano student, Ava H. and her dogs Shelby (the bigger Shephard) and Wags (the smaller pug). Our Rock Star Achievement Program Continues to Inspire!
Rock Star Achievement Program
This proven system that helps students get excited about music and helps keep parents ‘informed’ as to how they are progressing. Similar to karate belt tests, every few months or so teachers will evaluate their students. As they progress they will receive one of these really cool wristbands for their level. They will also get trophies and other awards at certain levels as part of the “Merit System” we have already had in place. This type of program has been proven to inspire students, bring a smile to parents’ faces and we all feel proud of the progress being made!

Meet the Stick Around for the Snare Devils
They are the FUN Percussion Ensemble Group that everyone is talking about and headed by Big Beat Music teacher, Rob Crowther! Coming soon to a stage near you!
What is it?
The percussion ensemble is a class geared to learn different rhythmic styles in a group setting. They will be using drum sets along with several other percussion instruments.
Who should join?
Whether you are already taking drum lessons and find enjoyment in a group setting or are playing another instrument and want to learn about the rhythmic styles to enhance your current instrument, this class can be for YOU whether you are a current student or not!
